Malaysian Hindu Youth Council(HYO National Body) started with a strong group of 12 youths(Sentul Methodist Boys School students), the group founded "Youth Spiritual Group" in year 17 August 1949.

Activities were mainly on education decelopment among students of all ages where a "Group Study" concept was introduced to group all students in a strategic location and comprehensive tuition clases was provided to ensure students are well prepared before their up coming exams.

In year 1951, Malaysian Hindu Youth was registered as a body and the first Hindu Youth Annual General Assembly Confrence was held on 27.12.1957 in Ipoh, where 200 youths from all over Malaysia gathered to mark the official birth of HYO in Malaysia. With carrying the motto of "Service Above Self", HYO National Body has successfully created its name as one of the biggest  organisation in Malaysia, that serve the youths in the correct track besides joining other NGO's in organizing various international programs in all over Malaysia. As for now, MHYC has 157 HYO branches nationwide with 163,000 active members serving the Indian Youths nationwide.
